Vivienne settled into the guestroom at Win’s house.
She knew her freedom was only temporary.
The trial still loomed.
One wrong move, and she’d be tossed back to the cold concrete cell.
No, she wouldn’t go down without a fight.
Knowing Win was about as reliable as a wet noodle and his mother…well, Leslie didn’t exactly roll out the welcome mat, Vivienne swallowed her pride and dialled a number.
She hated crawling back to her father for help, but Sebastian was her last resort.
Sebastian answered, they argued, she cried, he cursed, but they did manage to cobble together a plan.
Vivienne had dinner in her room, waited for nightfall, then waited some more until she was sure Leslie would be in bed.
Then she stole towards Win’s room and knocked.
And kept knocking.
Win’s door finally swung open, revealing a sleep-rumpled, annoyed face. ‘What?’
Vivienne pushed past him. ‘We need to talk.’
