Chapter 78
Layla immediately recoiled from Seth's touch, not hiding the disgust in her eyes. "Seth Parker, we're divorced. You don't get to call me that anymore."
Seth smiled bitterly, stung by her response. It seemed like he didn't even have the right to call her by her nickname anymore.
His gaze dimmed, and he croaked, "I understand, Ms. Jenkins. Still, thank you for taking care of Benjamin. Could you please stay for lunch before leaving?"
Seth spoke cautiously, as though afraid she would refuse.
Daisy, worried her mother might abandon Seth and Benjamin again, tugged at Layla's sleeve nervously. Tilting her head up, she called out sweetly, "Mommy."
Layla froze, joy surging through her.
"Sweetheart, what did you just say?"
Daisy threw her arms around Layla's neck and repeated, "Mommy."
Layla felt like she was dreaming. This was the first time Daisy had ever called out to her.
Ever since discovering her daughter's condition, Layla had experienced countless sleepless and tense nights.
