Seth had the urge to rush home when he saw Layla in the house again. He wanted to hold the three of them tightly in his arms, to keep this beautiful moment forever. But he also knew that if he showed up, Layla would take Daisy and leave.
He had hurt her so deeply that he was afraid that there was nothing he could do to make up for it in this lifetime. Seth watched the three of them sitting around the dining table, eating together. He pinched his brows in frustration. Unable to hold back any longer, he dialed Layla's number.
Seth felt a wave of nervousness when the call connected, and he hesitated for a few seconds before asking, "Layla, is Benjamin doing better?"
There was not an ounce of warmth in her voice even though she had just been laughing with the children. "His fever's gone down."
A frown tugged at the corner of his lips. "Thank you. But I'm worried the fever might come back tonight. Could you and Daisy stay for the night?"
