When Layla heard the voice, her head snapped up, and her gaze locked onto Seth's piercing, dark eyes. In that moment of danger, she forgot all her past grievances. Without thinking, Layla pointed at the two men behind her and said, "Call the police! They're dangerous!" For the first time since their reunion, Layla sought Seth's help. She was no longer trying to push him away. Seth gently brushed Layla's head, his voice calm and steady. "Don't be afraid. Take Daisy and go. I'll handle this." Layla said softly, "Be careful." Then, she turned and hurried off with Daisy in her arms. She hadn't gone far when the anguished screams of men echoed from the alley. Layla had been married to Seth for four years, long enough to understand his skills. Two men would be no challenge for him. As Layla ran out of the alley, Sylvia's car pulled up in front of her.
