CHAPTER 88: INSEPARABLE FROM THE MAGIC
Shirley fell to the ground, and Drakon swiftly caught her. She was trembling as if she was having a seizure. Seeing her like that made Drakon panic. He shook her, calling her name repeatedly, but there was no reply. He grunted and glanced up at Dahlia, deep into her enchantment.
"Stop it, Dahlia! You're hurting her!" he said.
Dahlia's eyes were shut, and she seemed absent from her body. Drakon glanced from Shirley to Dahlia and back again, conflicted. On the one hand, he wanted to disrupt the ritual, but he also knew the repercussions. Interrupting a spell that used a blood link halfway could damage Shirley significantly.
But he couldn't just stay there and watch Shirley convulse in pain without knowing if she was alright or not. What if the ritual failed, and she died in the process? If Axton was correct, the magic was inseparable from her except through death, which meant that whatever method Dahlia used would indirectly lead to the same outcome.
