CHAPTER 181: VISITING THE STREETS
Dark Seer walked through the streets that looked empty but were not—a basket of fruit in his hands. The city lights, which by the shadow wolves' decree were always to be left on every second of the day, illuminated the night sky.
Some street lamps flickered, but they only revealed the failing faces of the city's inhabitants. His steps were slow as he took in the city's ruins.
The shadow wolves' invasion of the city had left most citizens wounded. Worst was their lootings, which had plunged the city into hunger.
As Dark Seer walked around, people stared at him; mothers drew their children close to themselves while the men scoffed and looked away.
He walked up to an older man sitting dejectedly in his doorway. He was dressed in tattered clothes, and blood flowed from his head. Some shadow wolves had looted his house and carted his little food. Dark Seer knelt beside him, his voice soothing, "Take me hands; let's get you up," he stretched his hands forward.
