13 The Aftermath

It was way past midnight when Sarah and Eric finally walked into his apartment. Sarah was exhausted beyond belief; her body was weighed down by the exhaustion of the entire week that had accumulated and crashed down on her altogether. She still felt a tremor in her body. Eric hadn’t said much about the preliminary findings of the inspection, nor had she asked. Not many words were exchanged the entire drive home, and Sarah was grateful for that. The whole ride, he held her hand and stroked gently on the inside of her wrist, which was all she needed from him. When they walked up to his apartment, his arm remained around her waist, holding her against him, scared that her legs might give out.
