"I'm a lost cause, am I?"
The maid looked quietly at the young girl in the mirror as her hands worked on the thick red locks that flowed like molten lava.
Though she looked crestfallen, Sophie couldn't help but notice her exquisite features glowing in an unexplainable joy.
With a warm smile, the maid replied, "You're in love, Miss."
"Paris is right. I am a dimwit girl after all," her bright voice muttered sadly.
The loyal maid frowned. "I don't know what that means, Miss, but you are definitely not that."
Maria looked up from her lap and beamed back in gratitude. Sophie would always take her side no matter what.
"If you asked me," Sophie continued in a motherly tone, "love does stupid things to people. Or maybe it's people do stupid things when they're in love. I can't remember which one it is."
The red-haired beauty laughed. "Either way works."
"As long as you're happy, Miss Maria." Sophie smiled supportively.
