Fred was uncontrollably furious as he swung his slap towards Marshall in the corner.
Beside him, the maids stood against the wall, afraid to intervene in the family's affairs.
"Darling, please cease your strikes. Marshall is just a kid," pleaded Scarlett, her eyes betraying amusement.
"Marshall is still learning. It's normal for him to be heedless. Please, my dear, refrain from anger," she cast a glance at Marshall.
Marshall, clad in a short-sleeved shirt with a backpack slung over his shoulder, bore red marks on his arms.
Fred, in his rage, was not easily swayed by such pleas.
Any defense only served to exacerbate Fred's fury.
He pushed aside Scarlett, directing his admonishments at Marshall.
"How have I produced a kid like you?"
"Today, I shall ensure you remember this lesson."
"If you don't want to go home, leave."
"You are nothing but an embarrassment!"
Once again, Fred struck Marshall.
Marshall gritted his teeth, determined not to cry out.
