I froze the moment I laid eyes on Ares.
Feeling the tension of my stiff body language, Alger lowered his gaze at me. He cocked his head back when he noticed my glazed eyes.
“Ares…” He balled his fists. Alger had always been the calmest at the mention of Ares, but it struck me now that his composure was just a façade.
Pursing his lips, Ares strode toward us.
“I’m aware of the situation, and for that, I apologize,” he said with his eyes fixed on me.
