Joanna's voice grated on my nerves.
She wasted no time pinning all the blame on me as she whined to Abigail about how I'd supposedly mistreated Joshua. She went on and on about the "hardships" and "humiliations" Joshua had endured because of me.
I didn't say a word in response. I just stood there, silent, letting her vent.
The more she spoke, the more heated and self-righteous she became. She even threw in a dramatic sigh and a shake of her head for good measure before turning to Abigail with a pitiful expression.
"Abigail, my brother works so hard at Mr. Jigman's company. He's dedicated, responsible, and never causes trouble. But for some reason, Samuel keeps picking on him!"
