I blinked up at him, searching his beautiful bronze eyes for a trace of doubt, but there was none. The corners of my lips twitched upwards. “We won. Even though I was mostly waiting and found myself in a different situation... we still, for the better part of everything, won. Even though I thought we would lose to overwhelming defeat, that we were going against too much magic... I thought they would have an army way too strong. But incidentally, we still won,” I repeated, savoring the words, letting them settle in my chest like a balm. “I need to finish a few things here before we go, but I’ll be quick.”
Baron’s eyes darkened slightly, a flicker of possessiveness flashing through them. “Take all the time you need, but I’ll be nearby. I don’t want you out of my sight for too long.”
