“Wait, what?” Amalia repeated. “There’s a city underneath the city that apparently they’re using to make hybrids—werewolf and something else? Abominations? We don’t have time to deal with Elias, obviously. What are we going to do?”
Amalia stepped back and began to run away.
“Where are you going?”
Amalia stopped and turned around, shaking her head. “I’m going to join Connor and Lucia. I don’t want to be away from him right now.” She turned again and disappeared around the corner.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck!” I muttered, feeling a surge of urgency. I began to look for Baron, sensing his presence nearby.
“Baron!” I called out, my voice barely audible above the clash of swords and the roar of magic. His eyes met mine—sharp and focused, yet softened with concern when he saw the urgency in my expression.
“What is it?” His voice was low but commanding, cutting through the chaos around us. He had taken off his shirt, blood dripping down most of his skin, blood I knew wasn’t his.
