Chapter 386: Touch Down
Talia
The capital city eventually came into view towards the end of the last day of travel. While I had thought the journey itself would take a total of two and a half days, to my surprise, it only took one and most of the second day. By the evening, I found myself standing in front of the castle that I had once called home. It still felt like home, though different enough to make my heart beat faster. I suddenly relied on my magical sight, seeing the strings of magic around me. I took a sharp breath and pushed it out. I needed to calm myself.
The doors were already open, waiting for me, with guards standing outside—guards I recognized from long ago. None of them said anything; they just looked at me with wide eyes full of surprise and, perhaps, fear. Was there something on my face? I asked myself as I climbed the stairs. The journey upward took little time. I heard the twins’ noises outside Cressida's door. "There, with my own," Baron had told me. "If you find them, you find her."
