“She won’t let me in,” Baron said as he paced a small clearing. Gabriel kept looking at him.
“I’m sure she has a good reason for doing it,” Gabriel said.
“I don’t care. I need to see her. It’s been a whole day. I know she’s there. Why won’t Ariel let me in?” Baron’s frustration was evident.
“Maybe we should wait for a few days,” Gabriel suggested in a level tone.
“How many days did we spend on the road?” Baron asked his beta.
“Three days.”
“And how many days did we spend entering this forest?” Baron continued.
“Two days,” Gabriel replied.
“So how many more days do you want me to wait?” Baron snapped.
“I’m sorry,” Gabriel said. “Perhaps if I saw a bit more context to this, I would understand better. But if Ariel’s reason for keeping you away from her is the best thing, then perhaps I don’t think it’s worth fighting her over it.”
