Chapter Seventy One
It was silent. No one spoke, nor did they want to. I deserved this. Somehow I’d been too blind to even see what was right in front of me. The memory of it all keeps haunting me. All I can see is the hurt in her eyes as the rain collided with her skin and the gash on her neck that Natalia had given her. I should have listened, but I was too absorbed with my own insecurities that I failed to notice it all.
Everyone had hauled their way into the great dining hall. The round table was filled with brooding wolves and Seelies. Natalia had resorted to crying and pleading and trying to manipulate her way out of it. She’d tried to run, not caring if she would harm my child in the process of her shifting. I knew she'd always been selfish, but I’d always told myself that she loved me and, despite it all, that was enough.
