4 RESIGNATION
In the cozy confines of their room, Kayden and Kendra sat on their beds, engaged in a quiet but serious conversation. Their concern about finding their father weighed heavily on their minds.
Kendra sighed, her brows furrowed in frustration. "Kayden, I don't think Aunt Celia told us everything she knows. She didn't really explain why Mom doesn't want to talk about our dad."
Kayden nodded in agreement. "I felt the same way, Kendra. Aunt Celia said it was complicated, but that's not a real answer. I think Mom should tell us the truth, or we'll never find out on our own."
Kendra looked pensive for a moment. "You know, Kayden, when I asked her, I pretended to be okay with her answer. I didn't want her to think I'm not happy with just having her as our mom."
He appreciated Kendra's sensitivity but understood that the truth was essential. "It's okay, Kendra. I get why you did that, but we need to know. I think Mom is protecting us, but we deserve to know about our dad too.
