The next morning brought about fine weather and clear skies.
Madison and the rest left for the ghost shrine early in the morning.
The mountain that the shrine was built on wasn't very tall. They followed the dirt road for half an hour and then passed through a pine forest, whereupon a clearing opened up ahead of them.
A 15-foot shrine came into view.
The roof of the shrine was made of glazed gold, while the rest of it was constructed out of wood. There was an ancient sort of charm to it.
Queenie stood next to Madison. "The last time I was here, it didn't look this new. Looks like someone was here to fulfill their debt for a wish come true by cleaning up the place."
She pulled on Madison's sleeve. "Hear me out, Madison. That abbot my dad hired entered the shrine, only to come out looking all defeated less than a moment later. He said that the forces here were too overwhelming and that he couldn't handle them.
