As soon as the thought crossed his mind, Richard sprang into action and leapt out of the window. Within seconds, he landed firmly on the ground. The man standing nearby barely noticed anything, unsure if someone had jumped at all, but he did see a young man dressed entirely in black casually brushing dust off his hands as if nothing had happened.
Arthur couldn’t help but roll his eyes. He stood up from his seat and called out to his friend, who had already walked outside.
"Ten thousand rupees, and you just throw it away like that?" Arthur clicked his tongue in disapproval.
Richard turned back and shot him a cold glare. "Don’t ever pull a stunt like that again," he warned sternly.
Arthur sighed in frustration. He had only wanted to lighten the mood for his anxious friend, but the man was like a block of ice—cold and unfeeling.
"No good deed goes unpunished," Richard muttered under his breath.
"I’m just looking out for you. You’re twenty-seven, and you’ve never even held a woman’s hand.
