Chapter Ninety Five: The Wait
Canaan walked into his office, whistling a tune and tweaking his fingers.
Mark joined him in there. "Good morning,"
"Morning, Mark," Canaan replied, sitting behind his desk. "How was your night?"
"It was good. I suspect you had a wonderful night."
"Mmn." Canaan flattened his mouth, planting his hands down on his desk surface.
Mark smiled. "I'm glad that things are working out well between you and Layla."
"Stop prying in my private life, Mark. I never ask about yours."
"That's because you're insensitive. I want to talk about myself to you, but you don't let me."
"I've never stopped you from doing that."
Mark pulled out a chair for himself and sat down, clasping his hands over the table. "Then, I will start talking."
Canaan raised one eyebrow at him, and Mark laughed. "I was only joking. You have to attend the meeting with the zonal pack leaders later in the evening."
"I thought that has been postponed."
"That was when they believed they could resolve the crisis themselves.
