Layla's heart kicked back into motion after Canaan left.
Her knees suddenly felt weak, and she staggered toward a chair.
She plopped down on it, planting her fore arm on her thighs absentmindedly.
She could hear the sound of her heart thudding as she sat.
She fisted her lips, and the image of Canaan kissing her flashed in her memory.
She shut her eyes quickly, shuddering at the thought.
"You are swaying, Layla," she told herself. "This is bad. This is not good. Oh, God."
She clawed her fingers through her hair down to her face, covering her nose down to her jaw with her palm.
She moaned in distress. "Oh, God!"
She fell back on the chair, staring up at the ceiling.
"Why did I agree to go to lunch with him?" Avoiding him would have been her best bet.
His goal was to make her sway. She was becoming influenced by him already before he began taking action.
All it had taken then was a kiss, and she had been robbed of her sense.
