Chapter Forty Eight: Empty Space
Akila got into her apartment and stopped a minute at the door.
She looked around and checked out the place.
She had not been home for only two days, but she felt like she had been away since forever.
"Oh, my precious home! She crooned, opening her arms wide as she walked into the sitting room.
She toed her shoes off and twirled over the rug in the sitting room before plopping down on her sofa.
She sagged deeper into it, moaning in delight at the feel of home.
"I'm back." She smiled.
The two days, which she spent in that dark, underground room, were the longest days of her life.
She had no idea what time of the day it was. She had no purpose. All she did was sit in her bounds, waiting for food and water.
She would have to be fed by a stranger as her hands were literally tied up.
Akila resisted the urge to groan. She was an independent woman.
How could she surrender her life in the hands of someone else?
Her thought drifted to Layla and Derek, and she was filled with empathy.
