Chapter 46 The Trap
Beckett's grudge against Aaron was not something that was built up overnight. It was a fire that had been stoked by years of envy, and the sting always came up short against Aaron.
He resented Aaron for snatching away everything that should have been his, leaving him the butt of everyone's jokes. Now, it was time for Aaron to get a taste of defeat.
"Beckett, if you have a problem, take it up with me," Aaron said, his voice low and steady. "Leave the innocent out of this."
"Oh, I think not!" Beckett sneered, yanking Tia to him. "She's your fiancée, right? You're supposed to be head over heels for her. I wonder, if she were to die right before your eyes, would it hurt?"
Aaron was silent.
"Answer me!"
"Mmph!"
Tia's scalp felt like it was on fire as Beckett's grip tightened.
"Let her go. Whatever you want, I'll do it," Aaron offered desperately.
"Really?" Beckett's smirk widened. "Start by kneeling to me. If I'm feeling generous, maybe I'll consider your plea."
