Desiree.
“Where did I go wrong, Mad?” I sobbed in Maddox’s chest as we stood on the balcony under the moonlight gaze of Greyville Pack. “I have always tried to do my best as a mother, I will sacrifice my life for our children’s happiness if need be. If I knew this disaster would happen, I would have done everything I could.” I lamented while Maddox busied himself patting my shoulder tenderly.
“You are the best mother our kids could ever wish for, Desiree. They know it too,” he mumbled. “What happened today…is enough to break even the resolve of even the bravest of the bravest. Damien lost his mate, he’s in so much pain, he’s confused, consumed by regrets, angry and he’s looking for someone to blame. Anyone would have done the same thing.”
“He hates me, Mad.”
“Don’t say that,” he cooed. “He loves you more than his own life and he would give anything for your happiness. Whatever he did today, stemmed from nothing but pain and anger. He didn’t mean those words.”
