My fangs slammed into the neck of the vampire, the bitter taste of copper heavy on my tongue as I tore the damned creature away from Azalea. Blood sprayed everywhere, onto her, marking her like a frightened hare fleeing from the claws of a beast.
She landed with her ass on the floor, quickly scrambling away from us, her eyes wide with terror. Except, her eyes were on me and not the vampire, which made me think she feared me more.
She wasn’t wrong in that assessment.
I was worse.
The vampire hissed, frantically trying to claw itself free from my hold. I turned, calmly making my way back alongside the others, and dumped it next to its friend.
It tried to get up, but Ryder stepped in and knocked it back onto the floor. He’d been unusually quiet since they’d brought back Dominic and caught me off guard to see him react so suddenly. But then again, he was just as thirsty to spill their blood as the rest of us, if not more.
