Max nodded, his expression grim. "Leave it in the conference room tomorrow. I'll review it and add my thoughts."
As they prepared to leave separately to avoid suspicion, Ava paused. "Max," she said softly, "do you ever worry that we're getting in too deep?"
He turned to her, his gaze intense. "Every day," he admitted. "But we can't stop now. There's too much at stake."
Ava nodded, squaring her shoulders. "You're right. We're in this together."
As they parted ways, each heading to a different exit, the weight of their secret hung between them.
Their first task was to identify potential informants within Bennett Enterprises. They compiled a list of employees with access to sensitive information, cross-referencing it with those who had any connection, however tenuous, to Victor Langston or his company.
