Xina tilted her head, straining to see who was speaking behind the door, but Gary quickly slammed it shut before she could catch a glimpse.
His expression hardened, and Xina knew something was wrong. He seemed anxious to get her away from the room and whatever conversation had just been interrupted. But there was something about that voice—so familiar.
"His voice..." Xina muttered, deep in thought. "I've heard it before." She paused, then her eyes widened in realization. "Ah, the man from the casino."
Gary’s face tightened, and Xina could tell he wasn’t pleased. He had already been briefed on what had transpired at the casino, and though he had hidden it well, Xina knew he had been furious. Furious that Archer had let her out of the manor, furious that she'd been anywhere near such a place.
