CHAPTER EIGHTY THREE –A PRISONER IN LOVE
Karina buried her face in her hands, her body shaking with silent sobs. She felt Miguel's arm wrap around her shoulders, pulling her close. She allowed herself to lean into him, drawing strength from his solid presence.
"We'll get through this," he murmured into her hair. "I promise."
As the days wore on, the threats continued to trickle in, each one chipping away at Karina's sense of security. She found herself growing increasingly paranoid, second-guessing every interaction, scrutinizing every face for signs of malice.
Miguel, true to his word, did his best to protect her. He upgraded the mansion's security system, hired additional staff to patrol the grounds, and even arranged for a discreet security detail to follow Karina when she left the estate. But his efforts, well-intentioned as they were, only served to heighten the tension between them.
