The devils moved in
Megan was standing next to the window, tapping her phone against her chin, her face darkened by worry. That’s how her mother found her when she stepped out of the bathroom after a quick shower.
“What’s wrong, darling?”
Megan turned to her. Her mouth hung open but she seemed to struggle to find her words. After a while, she said:
“There is something odd going on, mom. Something about Scarlett.”
“What do you mean?”
“I just tried calling her phone again. You know I tried all day yesterday and her phone was off. Now though, it rang when I called. As if…As if someone had turned it on again. Don’t you think that’s strange?”
“Maybe someone found it lying across the street or something.”
Megan wasn’t convinced. She shook her head, lower lip trapped between her teeth. She didn’t like the way this situation was making her feel. Her mother stood next to her by the window:
“If you think that Scarlett is still alive, I can guarantee you that it’s impossible. The men I paid were positive, she rolled
