The enemy is still out there
Scarlett walked up the steps to her front door, a smile plastered on her face. She had just left Alex's gallery and her mind was buzzing with ideas for new paintings. She couldn't wait to get started on them.
But as she turned the key in the lock and stepped inside, her smile faded. Ryke was sitting on the couch with his phone in his hand, a scowl on his face.
"Hey, babe," Scarlett said tentatively, sensing the tension in the air.
It was thick enough to be sliced with a knife. She’d seen her husband angry on multiple occasions but never directed toward her in that extent. But was it directed at her? It sure seemed like it. Ryke had looked up at her and didn't say anything. Scarlett furrowed her brows in confusion.
"What's going on?" she asked, walking over to sit beside him on the couch.
