A weak, timid voice came from the video call. A pale little boy, who looked just like Jeremiah, softly called out to Grace as he lay in the hospital bed.
Grace's heart softened.
"Eason, mwah!"
Eason's brows were furrowed with a touch of grievance. "Mommy, you didn't call me last night to say goodnight."
Compared to Jeremiah, who was a nagging warm-hearted boy, Eason was a more affectionate and insecure child. At least, that was how she saw it.
"I'm sorry that I forgot. Mwah! Don't be mad, okay?"
Since Eason had always been frail and had recently been diagnosed with leukemia, Grace paid extra attention to him.
He pouted. "I'll forgive you this time, but no more next time."
Grace's worries vanished when she saw his playful demeanor, and she nodded repeatedly.
"Where's Madam Loyd and Jeremiah?" she asked.
He pretended to be angry. "I won't talk to you anymore if you keep asking about them."
She couldn't help but smile. He truly had a charmingly melancholic air about him.
