Chapter 48: Classmates' Ridicule
Wendy stood in the school corridor, her gaze distant. The recent events replayed in her mind—her cousin Caro had been caught cheating on an exam and, overwhelmed with emotion, threatened to jump off the building. Students and teachers were in a panic, but Wendy remained detached, observing everything with indifference.
"If you have the guts, then jump," Wendy's words echoed in her ears, tinged with disdain and helplessness.
She knew Caro's outburst was impulsive, without the courage to follow through.
Sure enough, not long after, Caro came down from the building, her face pale and eyes filled with fear.
Wendy couldn't help but mock her, "I knew you wouldn't dare to jump, seriously."
At that moment, Wendy's mom arrived in a rush, looking anxious. Seeing Caro unharmed, she sighed in relief but then tensed up again.
She took Caro's hand and scolded sternly, "What were you thinking? Do you know how dangerous that was? You weren't just scaring yourself, you were scaring everyone!"
