CHAPTER 126: UNPLANNED MEETING
"I just need a damn break," Paul murmured, rubbing his temples. Frustration radiated from him.
"Why does everything have to be so complicated?" he muttered, jaw clenched.
He called Ben. "Drinks. Tonight."
"Paul, you alright?" Ben asked, calm but curious.
"No," Paul snapped.
"Hello? Paul?" Ben's voice came through the speaker.
"Just... meet me at O’Hare’s," Paul said.
Ben sighed. "I'll be there in an hour. Don't do anything stupid."
Paul snorted. "Too late for that."
After hanging up, Paul searched for his keys, patting himself down frantically.
"No keys," he growled, leaning against the car.
He scanned the ground, then remembered where he left them - on Christian's tombstone.
As he approached, he stopped dead. Cecilia stood near the tombstone, lost in thought.
Paul's breath caught. He hadn't wanted to run into her.
Cecilia glanced up, breath catching in her throat.
"I left my keys," Paul mumbled, bending down.
Cecilia said nothing.
He stood, feeling awkward.
