Chapter 66
Gideon handed me a sports jacket before we stepped out of the house, saying, "I don't have anything new. So, you'll have to make do with mine."
Without another word, I took the jacket and slipped it on.
Gideon's gaze lingered on me. I could tell my outfit didn't match. The jacket, in particular, was far too big.
"Do I look ridiculous?" I asked.
"No," he replied, though I sensed he had more to say.
Beanie, on the other hand, was growing restless and continued to whine. Even so, Gideon didn't seem angry or impatient. Instead, he opened the door and led me to the backyard.
"This will do," he stated.
I quickly turned to Beanie, exclaiming, "Go on! This is your bathroom!"
It took him more than ten spins before he finally settled down to do his business.
Before I could step forward, Gideon moved ahead of me. The jacket sleeves hung loose on my arms, so he began rolling them up.
