Alice's body stiffened and she instantly felt a chill run down her spine. Jane heard the voice and turned around. Upon seeing John, she broke down in tears, as if he were a comforting shield. "Jane!" John's heart ached for her. He quickly stepped forward, cradling the little girl in his arms to comfort her. "Please stop crying. What happened? Did anyone upset you? Just tell me." "Oh, no... I understand what my sister said... It's all true. Jane was aren't beautiful, and Jane can't wear lovely dresses..." The little girl in his arms sobbed, struggling to catch her breath. John gently reassured her, "Don't listen to that. Our Jane is a little princess. Our Jane is the most beautiful and looks lovely in everything." "Is that true? You’re not just saying that, are you?" Jane asked, her eyes red and hopeful as she looked up at him. "Of course, I would never lie to you," John replied, his expression warm and kind. Seeing the happy smile spread across the little girl's face brought him relief, but he shot a cold glance at Alice.
