Chapter 146 - The Assassin's Identity
The Brannon estate was enveloped in a thick veil of darkness when nightfall arrived. Another night for Luna Anne and Lydia to pray they'd see the next day, as Luna was prepared to stay up all night again.
"Mother, you should rest," Lydia said in a gentle yet worried tone. She could see the lines of worry that had grown deeper over the last few days, as well as the tiredness imprinted on her mother's face.
Luna Anne shook her head, her drive unflinching.
“I'll rest when you and your child are safe, Lydia”
“For now, I’ll keep watch”
Knowing there was no use in arguing, Lydia sighed. Her mother was a constant source of strength, and this evening was no exception.
At any cost, Luna Anne was going to keep her safe. With her hand resting on her big belly, Lydia closed her eyes and felt the soothing presence of her unborn child.
