LUCA'S POV
She sighed, looking a little exasperated. “Luca, you can doubt me all you want, but the fact is, this could be our best chance. If Xander’s out of the way, there won’t be as much bloodshed. You can get Javion and Daphne out without having to fight the entire pack.”
I mulled over her words, my gut churning with uncertainty. If she was telling the truth, then this could be the break we needed. But if she was lying... I clenched my fists, feeling the weight of the decision bearing down on me.
“How do I know you’re not setting us up?” I asked bluntly. “How do I know this isn’t just another one of Xander’s tricks?”
Sasha’s eyes flashed with something—annoyance, maybe, or perhaps frustration. “You don’t,” she admitted, her voice cold. “But think about it, Luca. What do I gain by lying? If you attack tomorrow and get slaughtered, that doesn’t help me, does it? I’m trying to help you save your alpha, for crying out loud.”
