Chapter Nineteen- Fleeting Calls
The silence and tension was palpable as Lenora left the mansion. Her husband Ares sat next to her in the backseat as they made their way back home. The two were practically squashing themselves against the doors, leaving enough space for others to comfortably sit in the vacant area. Lenora couldn’t be bothered to think over anything else, her mind was far away as she mused over the day that just occurred.
So busy and deep in thought, Lenora missed the building animosity that was exuding from the man next to her.
“You know, Lenora. I have to give credit where credit is due. You’re smart. Sharper than most. You’re aware of where you stand and how to go about it. You also know that I won’t give you money for whatever you are planning to do. Bear in mind something, and do well to remember it. Don’t ever, even once think that you can convince me to use children as some sort of leverage. I do not play games and everyone knows how I deal with people that I deem an inconvenience.”
