"Wake up, Aicher!"
Mom barked from outside, knocking roughly on the door to my room.
I rolled awake, groaning in annoyance.
"What is ir now?"
"Get up now and start preparing for work. I don't want to hear that you were fired due to lateness this time."
I hissed, sitting up on my bed.
The knock erupted again, and I was forced to barge to the door and yanked it open. "What is it?" I demanded.
"Do you know what I did to get that job for you?" Mom bellowed, glaring at me. "How could you still be sleeping in at this time? Don't you care at all about your life?"
"Maybe you shouldn't care too much, Mom. I'm expected to resume work by nine. Why are you making a fuss at six a.m?"
"I have to make a fuss because I won't let you blow this opportunity either."
"Opportunity, my foot. It's just a lowly waiting job with a meager pay."
"Half bread is better than none. You should be grateful anyone is willing to employ you within such short notice. I shouldn't have bothered sponsoring
