CHAPTER NINE – SEE THAT THE GRAVE IS KEPT CLEAN
The dinner rush at Miles Pizza was in full swing when Joan arrived. She tied on her apron and jumped right in, taking orders and prepping ingredients with practiced efficiency.
About an hour into her shift, a customer approached the counter with a scowl on his face. Joan recognized him as a regular who was known for being particular about his orders.
"Excuse me," he said, his voice tinged with irritation. "I just got home and unpacked my order, and the garlic knots I paid for are missing."
Joan took a deep breath, remembering Sarah's advice about staying calm and assertive. "I'm very sorry to hear that, sir. Let me look into this for you right away."
She pulled up the order on the computer and confirmed that garlic knots had indeed been included. "I see the garlic knots listed on your order, sir. I apologize for the inconvenience. How would you like us to resolve this for you?"
