CHAPTER NINETY FOUR – A SHOUTING MATCH IS UNCALLED FOR
Unable to contain herself any longer, Joan approached Dr. Blake as soon as Mrs. Johnson left.
"Dr. Blake," Joan said, struggling to keep her voice level, "I need to speak with you. In private."
Dr. Blake's smile never faltered as she followed Joan to an empty consultation room. "Of course, Dr. Keppler. What seems to be the problem?"
Joan took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. "Emily, I don't know what your issue is with me, but this has to stop. You're actively undermining my work and interfering with my patients' treatment. It's unprofessional and, frankly, unethical."
Dr. Blake's expression hardened, her false warmth disappearing. "I'm simply offering patients the best care possible. If they choose to switch to me, perhaps that's a reflection on your abilities, not mine."
"You're manipulating vulnerable people for your own gain," Joan shot back, her voice rising. "This isn't about patient care, it's about your ego."
