CHAPTER NINETY TWO – ANOTHER CHANCE TO OPEN UP
A soft knock on the door made her sit up straighter. "Come in," she called, trying to keep her voice steady.
Mr. Davidson entered, his usual nervous energy somewhat subdued. He took his seat across from Joan, his eyes darting around the room before finally settling on her face.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Davidson," Joan said warmly. "How are you feeling today?"
Mr. Davidson took a deep breath. "I... I'm here," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "And I think... I think I'm ready to talk."
Joan felt a surge of hope but kept her expression neutral. "That's wonderful, Mr. Davidson. Remember, we can go at whatever pace you're comfortable with. Where would you like to start?"
Mr. Davidson closed his eyes for a moment, as if gathering his courage. When he opened them, Joan saw a determination she hadn't seen before.
