"Maybe we can find you something to change into," Megan suggested desperately.
Before they could formulate a plan, a stern-looking woman appeared. "Ms. Keppler? We're ready for you now."
Joan looked at her, panic rising. "I'm so sorry, I just had an accident. Could I have a few minutes to clean up?"
The woman's expression didn't change. "I'm afraid Dr. Ramirez is on a very tight schedule. It's now or we'll have to reschedule."
Feeling trapped, Joan nodded. "O-okay. I'm coming."
As she followed the woman down the hallway, Joan's mind raced. How could she explain this? Would they even take her seriously now?
