Joan sat in the waiting room of Greenwood Clinic, her fingers nervously tapping on her portfolio. The clinic, nestled on the outskirts of New York, was her last hope. After weeks of rejections, she desperately needed this job.
"Ms. Keppler?" A middle-aged woman with graying hair and kind eyes called out. "I'm Dr. Rachel Richards. Please, come in."
Joan followed Dr. Richards into a small, cozy office. Sunlight streamed through the windows, illuminating shelves filled with psychology books and potted plants.
"Have a seat," Dr. Richards said, gesturing to a comfortable chair across from her desk. "I must say, your resume is quite impressive. Top of your class at NYU, extensive internship experience... Why are you interested in our little clinic way out here?"
