Chapter 29 Marrying Karma
"Martha, remember to arrange these flowers for Adeline. They're her favorite," Alicia said as she set the bouquet of flowers on the coffee table. She then paced around and took in the opulent yet understated mansion.
Adeline and Christopher's marital home was bigger than Keller Manor, with the many corridors between the rooms resembling a maze. The mansion had been decorated in shades of black, gray, and white, the modern decorations interspersed with endearing household items for contrast.
Alicia gritted her teeth, furious that Adeline got to share this house with Christopher. This was supposed to be her home!
"Ms. Keller," Martha began hesitantly, believing Alicia was waiting for Adeline. "Mrs. Lambert won't be coming home for dinner this evening. Perhaps you could—"
Upon hearing this, Alicia cut Martha off, "Will Christopher be coming back, then?"
Martha recalled Christopher telling her at noon that he would be home for dinner. Nodding, she answered, "Yes, he will."
