"Atrocious crimes? Me?" Conner scoffed coldly. "If we're talking about atrocious, I think you all here have me beat—especially the one upstairs."

Liam stood at the top of the stairs. As he caught their stares, he frowned. His cold gaze immediately swept toward Conner.
Charlie cleared his throat awkwardly. "Look, everyone makes mistakes, and Liam's turned over a new leaf. He's one of us now!"
"Who said I've turned over a new leaf?" Liam descended the stairs and lounged against the couch with an indifferent shrug. "I'm just here to heal up. I never agreed to be 'one of you.'"
"Oh, details, details. As far as everyone else is concerned, you're with us now. Besides, where would you go if you left? The Larson family's gone, and it's not like you have anywhere else to stay."
