Before Paul could voice the question in his mind, heavy footsteps suddenly echoed from outside.
Maeve turned just as Zion entered the manor.
His clothes were dust-covered, and he appeared a little worse for wear.
Immediately concerned, she rushed over. "What happened?" she asked.
"It's nothing," Zion replied, shaking his head.
Charlie, who had been standing nearby, chimed in, "Nothing? You've been gone all night! Where were you?"
Zion didn't answer right away. Instead, he glanced upstairs, where Kieran had just appeared at the railing.
"I was attacked on my way out of the office," he finally said.
"How many did they send to hold you off? I have to hear this to broaden my mind." Charlie had never seen Zion held up for so long, not even able to return a call.
Zion's gaze stayed on Kieran. "Four vans. About 180 people," he muttered.
Charlie gasped, "They really wanted you dead! And you fought off that many? Incredible."
