Liam couldn't believe his ears. It was the first time he had seen someone ask for help so brazenly. Did he actually owe Maeve something?
"If you need people, go ask Zion! I don't have any to spare!" he shot back and turned to leave.
He had barely taken ten steps toward the main gate when he noticed that Maeve wasn't flustered at all—she didn't even give in or try to stop him.
Liam was puzzled. Didn't she understand that she should have at least shown some humility if she was asking for a favor?
In the end, Liam suppressed his frustration and stopped. He glanced back at Maeve. "Fine. I owe this to you! I'll lend them to you."
