My palms were full of cold sweat, my shoulders shivered with fear, and my breathing became rapid.
It was a gun!
Peter approached me. On the way, he pulled out a cotton pad from the dressing table and wiped his pistol playfully.
He looked at me defiantly, and the corners of his mouth curled into an evil smile. "I thought the Smith family would send a monster here. What a surprise that you are beautiful!"
"You, you." There was no room for me to retreat. I stammered, and tears welled up in my eyes.
"Look, this frightened look is so lovely."
Peter laughed loudly. He narrowed his eyes and scrutinized his prey.
In a panic, I swallowed my saliva and tried my best to hold back my tears. "Aren't you afraid that Mr. Carroll will go to you at night if you hurt his wife?"
"Hahahaha!" Peter laughed insolently and stopped abruptly. He pointed the cold muzzle at my forehead. "Do you think I'm afraid of ghosts?"
