MAY.
Mr. Bryson doesn't seem offended. He looks unsurprised that I've emptied out a glass of wine on his shirt and pants. Instead, his lips curve into a smile and he takes out a card from his pocket. "Here. I want to invite you to an event I'm hosting."
"I'm busy," I say, and nod my head over to where Finn sits. "I've got a kid to take care of."
"You can bring him along," he says and when I turn to leave, he grips my wrist. "I like you, May, and I'm forced to think you're lying because no one's seen your husband."
I face him. "What did you say?"
He shrugs, his eyes darting around, giving my colleagues pointed looks. "I've asked around about you, because I'm interested in you. No one's ever seen you with your acclaimed husband. Some of them think you're making it up."
I start to speak but something in me has me pausing. How would they know? Ethan has never been to my work place before. We do go out on dates, but more than half the time we're out, the restaurants are emptied out. H
